FPCTA is made up of qualified teaching artists who are professionals in their fields. The academy is committed to providing high quality theatre arts education to students.

EARLY CHILDHOOD

Our youngest actors will bring stories to life by working on Broadway Musicals or beloved children books through dramatic play activities, movement, music, and visual art. These theme classes promote creative expression, sharing, and refinement of motor skills.

CREATIVE DRAMA

Focused on acting training for our young theatre artists, Creative Drama classes focus on storytelling, crafts, and inventive play in a low-stress, high-fun environment! Students learn the basics of acting while creating characters and bringing them to life for their peers and families. These classes promote self-confidence, active listening and teamwork.

ACTING

Class curriculum stems from our six acting tools: body, voice, mind, imagination, heart, and cooperation. Students at all age levels explore these tools to grow, refine, and solidify their technique as actors to create believable characters in imaginary settings and circumstances onstage. Our advance actor will continue to build on skills learned through character and script analysis and showcase their talents in a performance base setting.

MUSICAL THEATRE

5, 6, 7, 8! Students will delve into this all-American art form as they combine music, theatre, storytelling, and dance into one cohesive whole. Musical theatre students share their character’s stories through song using age-appropriate vocal technique and repertoire.

DANCE

Theatre at its most physical form! Dance classes integrate the whole body into our storytelling ability. These fun, non-competitive classes focus on a variety of dance styles while building coordination, flexibility, and stamina.

TECHNICAL THEATRE

Students go behind the scenes and work with professional artists in Stage Make-Up, Costume Design, Costume Construction, Stage Management, Set Building 101, Basics of Lighting and Sound, and Props.

PERFORMANCE SHOWCASES

Actors learn the process of putting on a play through the audition and rehearsal process and into performance. Performance Showcases are offered each semester in acting or musical theatre. Our Young Musical Theatre Showcase is for ages 5-7, Advanced Musical Theatre Showcase for ages 8-15, and our Teen Acting Showcase is for ages 13-18.  Rehearsals are once week for 12-weeks. For our Advanced Musical Theatre Showcase and Teen Acting Showcase we recommend previous acting/musical theatre course work and/or summer production experience.

THEME CLASSES

Theme classes utilize all skills in acting but focus on a particular theme. All activities and class exercises will relate to the theme of the class.
