Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater & Academy announces major updates to its Capital Campaign “Spotlight on the Future”
Huntsville, AL - Fantasy Playhouse Children's Theater & Academy (FPCTA) is excited to announce a strategic pivot in its capital campaign “Spotlight on the Future” expansion project.
In 2019, demand for FPCTA’s programming was at an all-time high as our region grew to be the largest in the state. FPCTA purchased roughly 5.5 acres of property at the corner of Holmes and Triana to develop a 35,700-square-foot theatre arts campus to meet these demands.
However, in light of evolving global economic dynamics since the pandemic, including escalating construction and labor costs, FPCTA has strategically decided to revise its capital expansion plans. Instead of pursuing the construction of a new facility at the corner of Holmes & Triana, FPCTA will focus on expanding and enhancing its current location on Long Ave.
This change represents a proactive response to the changing economic landscape, ensuring that FPCTA can continue to fulfill its mission of providing outstanding theatre arts education and family entertainment to the North Alabama regional community. By optimizing its existing facilities, FPCTA aims to maximize efficiency and resource utilization while maintaining its commitment to excellence. In the coming weeks, you will be invited to attend a listening session to hear more about our plans and progress as we move forward in our exciting new venture. If you have any questions, please contact Karen Mockensturm, CEO (karen.mockensturm@fantasyplayhouse.com) or Amy Gandy, Board Chair (amy.gandy@fantasyplayhouse.com)
FPCTA remains deeply committed to its students, patrons, and community stakeholders. The decision to change its capital campaign expansion project underscores Fantasy Playhouse's adaptability and dedication to delivering exceptional programming and fiduciary responsibility to our donors.
FPCTA is dedicated to nurturing young talent and fostering creativity by providing theatre arts access through production, education, and outreach. Reaching more than 31,000 residents annually, including 21,000 children and youth,. FPCTA enriches the lives of children and families through theatre and arts education, encouraging students to become self-confident, academically successful, creative-thinking citizens who are more likely to invest in their communities as adults. FPCTA’s core programs include live children’s theatre productions, classes, camps, workshops, private lessons, and educational outreach through after-school classes and touring programs. Recognizing the transformative power theatre arts can have in the life of a child, FPCTA prioritizes theatre arts access for all by engaging communities.
