Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater & Academy is proud to announce its inaugural playwright festival, New Kids Play Fest: New Plays for New Kids for a New World.

Through this festival of new work, we aim to create a platform for local, seasoned, and/or up and coming writers to workshop new scripts to be considered for the Fantasy Playhouse Mainstage, Lab 87: Acting Conservatory, and special stages. Presentations will be unstaged readings of the plays read by selected actors. The use of costumes, props, sets, and/or technical elements will not be allowed in the presentations. The purpose of this process is to focus only on the text.

Local, guest and teams of playwrights at all levels are invited to submit original scripts of family-appropriate plays that creatively tell stories for the new kids of today using original ideas or reimagined public domain fairy tales.
